Alex Colchester and Mark Williams are the senior team behind the business. They both share a love of design, but have individual qualities that reflect their different backgrounds.
- Alex Colchester
Alex came to Studio Caparo via California where he was involved in the creation of specialist engineered structures. His deep love of engineered design and an interest in alternative construction techniques has been showcased in Studio Caparo’s structural projects. In an unforeseen development, Studio Caparo’s creation of large suspended chandeliers has opened another avenue for his unique spatial skills. "For me, every design project is a puzzle that has to be figured out. Find the key to that puzzle and you unlock the power of great design manufacturing". Alex has a soft spot for mechanical elements in furniture, "A Regency rotating card table is the perfect example of form uniting with function".

- Mark Williams
Trained as an architect before devoting himself to specialist paint finishes at various design manufacturers in London. "I have always been obsessed with the aesthetic of design and specialist finishes represented the ultimate stage of that process". Mark has a great eye for detail and an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of specialist finishes.His favourite furniture item is the ‘Hill House’ chair by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
